The Alice Wilds is pleased to present Firmament, a solo exhibition of recent paintings by J Youngwood.
This exhibition of new work by J Youngwood explores the intimacy and solitude of observational pen and marker drawings mimicked on canvas through acrylics and mediums. Firmament examines the connective line between drawing and painting on both a physical and metaphysical plane. This close relationship is a nod to the concept of the horizon through an abstracted lens.
J Youngwood received their BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2016. While at UWM, they were awarded the Lawrence Rathsack Scholarship. They have shown their work locally in a solo exhibition at Chamber, a two-person exhibition with Sean Heiser at Usable Space and in group exhibitions in Milwaukee, La Crosse, and New York.
Opening June 14th, 2019 and continuing through Saturday, July 27th, 2019 at The Alice Wilds.
